Christian Clot
Explorer and Researcher, Founder and Chairman
Expert in behavioural and transformational adaptation
For nearly thirty years, the Franco-Swiss explorer and researcher Christian Clot has devoted himself to exploration and scientific research. He has organised more than sixty expeditions and research projects across all types of terrain, both on land and at sea, investigating the interaction between environments and humanity’s ability to adapt to changing conditions and crises. He has achieved several world firsts, such as opening up the central section of the Darwin Cordillera (Tierra del Fuego, Chile) and successively crossing the four most extreme environments on the planet. He has designed and led large-scale missions such as Deep Time and Deep Climate, and devised the immersive Climate Sense experience, which allows participants to experience the climate of the future.
In 2014, he founded the research institute Human Adaptation Institute which he still heads today, and through which he conducts innovative research into human cognition, physiology and sociology under new living conditions. He has thus been able to model human adaptive functions, which he presents, amongst other things, in the book *The Keys to Human Adaptation: Building a Possible Future* « (Denoël, 2024)
He has won numerous awards for his work and is the author of many books, scientific articles, films and comic books; he also gives lectures all over the world. He is a trustee of the Société des Explorateurs Français, a member of the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) and the Société de Géographie Française, and a board member of the UNESCO Chair for Future Literacy.

Talks to inspire your teams!
Christian Clot works with organisations to share what his expeditions have taught him about the ability to adapt. Each session begins with an immersion into the world of his field expeditions: from caves and arid deserts to rainforests and polar environments. He then puts this experience into perspective with the situations currently facing the teams present. Emotion comes first, followed by the analytical framework, which allows everyone to reassess their own decisions with a clear head.
Four formats
Plenary session
An expedition narrative and the lessons it imparts, tailored to your specific objectives: leadership, cooperation, commitment and climate adaptation. The format is suitable for conferences, in-house training programmes and management seminars, ranging from a few dozen to several thousand participants, in French, English or Spanish.
Workshops
A workshop session tailored to your team, in which Christian puts participants through scenarios based on their own challenges. The group develops its own solutions and leaves with principles of decision-making and cooperation that can be applied to their day-to-day work.
Keynote speaker and panel discussion
A presentation to open or close a conference, executive committee meeting or strategic seminar, facilitating discussion and addressing the adaptation challenges specific to your sector.
Personalised support
Long-term support for a senior executive or management team, in the form of regular meetings. Christian uses this approach to address current decisions, how to deal with uncertainty and the organisation’s path to adaptation, drawing on twenty years’ experience of leading expeditions and supported by research.
